Newton is a 2018 Kannada film directed by D. Rajendra Babu and written by Sarath Mandayam. The film stars Arjun Sarja, Nikhila Vimal and Shanthi Krishna in the lead roles. Newton is a Kannada movie about the life of the Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan (later known as "Nightingale of India"). It is based on Gita Piramal's biography, The Man Who Knew Infinity: A Life Of The Genius Ramanujan and its portrayal of the joint English-Indian efforts to measure how much India contributed to world knowledge during colonial rule, when so much was lost or suppressed in both cultures. It was produced by G. N. Balakrishna and directed by D. Rajendra Babu. Newton is a 2018 Tamil-language period action-adventure film written and directed by Ramesh Aravind starring Dhanush, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Sivakarthikeyan in the lead roles while Jassie Gift plays an important role. It is produced by Lyca Productions and has music composed by BGM artist Gopi Sunder with cinematography by Vivek Harshan. The film is released worldwide on 21 September 2018, though in India it got delayed to 2 October 2018 due to release date clashes with Jallikattu which was released on 30 September 2018. It is the third film in the "Ransom" series and the first installment of "Vikramarkudu" series. The first teaser of Newton featuring Dhanush, Sarathkumar and Rajkiran came out on 28 October 2018. The teaser was later launched on 29 October 2018 with a theatrical release of the film on 21 September 2018. The Telugu dubbed version of Newton titled as "Neethana Newton" was released worldwide on 30 September 2018, while its dubbed Tamil version titled as "Vikramadachina" was released worldwide on 2 October 2018. The film has received mixed reviews from critics.
The film is directed by Susi Ganesan, produced by renowned cinematographer PC Sreeram and has music by C. Sathya. The movie is reportedly based on the life of noted filmmaker, late K. Balachander who created classics like "Kaviyin Kanavu", "Avargal", "Anbe Vaa" among others and also directed top stars like Kamal Haasan in films like "Apoorva Raagangal" and Rajinikanth in "Bairavi". This movie, starring Trisha Krishnan as female lead is directed by Raj Pazhaniappan. The movie also stars Pasupathy and Ramya Krishnan in important roles. The movie is produced by S. Michael Rayappan and has music by D. Imman and cinematography by Natarajan Subramaniam. Currently it is ready for release and has been listed on various websites as releasing on 14 November 2018, though no official confirmation has been made by either the producers or the crew.
